Biometrics 2006 - What can we expect?
The Biometrics 2006 conference began today, and tomorrow the doors will open to the public for the global Biometrics 2006 Expo. Over 60 of the most important companies in biometrics today will be attending, including the likes of Fujitsu, Motorola, Precise Biometrics, RC Group plus many more.
You may be wondering - if I attend, what will I likely get to see? Well, the Biometrics 2006 website gives us some insight as to the announcements set to be made. Here are a few tidbits - more after the jump.
Cogent Systems will present the new BlueCheckTM, a Bluetooth enabled mobile fingerprint scanner for law enforcement applications. Used with Cogent’s LiveID and MobileID software BlueCheckTM allows users to quickly and easily perform in the field fingerprint capture and identifications.
fingerPIN Ltd will be launching fingerPIN(tm), a biometric fingerprinting technology that increases the complexity of penetrating fingerprint based security methods. The fingerPIN authenticates identity on two levels: the uniqueness of the users’ fingerprints and the privacy of the sequence. Through the fingerPIN the risk of someone fraudulently logging on or accessing a secure area using a third person’s fingerprint data are reduced from 1 in 10,000 to 1 in 10 billion due to the difficulty of cracking a combination of several unique fingerprints used in a specific sequence.
Biometric conformance testing: Bion Biometrics launches BionCTS
Bion Biometrics is pleased to announce the release of BionCTS, a conformance testing software suite that enables vendors, implementers and end users to easily test their biometric products according to INCITS, ISO, and ILO SID-0002 standards. Bion Biometrics will provide free onsite conformance testing at Biometrics 2006 for any attendee with an ILO Seafarers Identify Document or ICAO ePassport. “Conformance testing across multiple biometric standards has been until now a costly and timeconsuming process,” says Dr. John Campbell, President of Bion Biometrics. “BionCTS changes that by allowing users to easily test every biometric data record and produce an immediate and detailed analysis of conformance errors.” For more information visit stand 108.

TSSI launch new entry level access control system
TSSI will be launching the New RCO4i designed as an entry level door controller for the enGuardPro Access control system (enGuardPro lite). It will also enable installers to connect multiple sites where there are only one or two doors using TCP/IP whilst keeping costs to a minimum. For more information visit stand 203.
Human Recognition Systems to demonstratethe first face recognition system on a mobile phone
HRS develops another industry first with the mobile facial recognition product! Working with Neven Vision, they built the first mobile-phone face recognition solution in the UK. Built using remote servers, connected via standard GSM
networks, the solution provides facial matches for images taken using the
phone’s in-built camera. You can see this working on stand 206
